Island X  operates Dec 26-Jan 22 each season. 2019 will be our 18th season continually operating on Island X. We pioneered modern day King Eider hunting and have sent home more successful King Eider hunters than all the other King Eider guides in Alaska combined. Coldbay is 600 miles SW of Anchorage in the center of Izembek Wildlife Refuge and Izembek State Game Refuge. The worlds population of Pacific Black Brant stage  here during the fall Sept-Nov and 35k-50k have been wintering over the past few years. The Emperor Geese also stage up here starting Sept with estimates around 10,000 birds. And Trophy Seaducks including Pacific Eiders, Harlequin, Scoters and Oldsquaws start showing up mid Oct .  

We operate all our hunts out of our own 3900 sq ft ocean front lodge that accommodates 8 quest's in our comfortable Coldbay Adventures Lodge. 

Adak was a major staging area for the invasion and defense of the Aleutian Islands from the Japanese after they invaded Kiska and Attu. Even today  Adak is a treasure chest for hidden military relics and old buildings.  

The Caribou herd on Adak was brought there immediately following WW2  to feed the soldiers in case they were cut off from supplies.  A healthy herd of Caribou live on the island today and offer hunters a great experience on a affordable DIY hunt. With the option for our big game transport services.

Adak also offers  world class DIY waterfowl hunts with Harlequin, Aleutian Teal , Redbreasted Merganser,Pintails, Bufflehead and Emperor Geese being the most prevalent on the island. Along with a small population of Pacific Eiders, Common and WW Scoters, Longtails  and Eurasian Wigeon available but in no way a slam dunk DIY hunt.

Emperor Goose hunting was shutdown in 1986 after a collapse of over 100,000 in the wild down to nearly 40,000 between 1984-86.  The main concern was predation from foxes on the nests along with a few cold wet springs resulting in over a 70% mortality rate.  

In 2017 the Season was reopened for a very limited harvest of 1000 birds total a year with 25 nonresident permits being given out by drawing.  The officials are working on possibly releasing a  a few more permits for nonresidents as only between 300-400 Alaskan residents have been harvesting the coveted Emperor Goose each year. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Team X-Treme  guides have guided 20 successful Emperor Goose hunts the past 2 years with a 100% record of success.  We offer full custom decoy spreads utilizing layout boats and Tanglefree ghost blinds a winning combination.

During September and October come experience the wonder of over 400,000 birds migrating through the Coldbay area to include Pacific Black Brant, Canada Geese, Lesser and Cacklers, Emperor Geese and misc puddle ducks. This variety offers waterfowl hunters a true Mecca to hunt, voted Alaska's Waterfowl Capitol. Along with boasting one of the strongest Salmon runs left in the state in the local rivers and lagoons.
